Description

Sunday 29 July 2018

11:00 to 16:00

We will start the day learning about animal fibres and the versatile and drop spindle, an ancient tool used to spin animal and plant fibres. We will each try out spinning various fleeces, including ethically sourced sheep and our very own angora goat.

Lunch will be a simple campfire meal with unlimited tea and coffee.

In the afternoon we will ply our yarn, learn about making up skeins and (if we have time), we can make a simple drop spindle out of found materials in the woodland. And of course, feed the goats!

The course is held among the rare and exotic trees of Tortworth Arboretum, 20 minutes north of Bristol.

All learning will be supportive and at your own pace, with low numbers to ensure you have plenty of one on one advice.

You will leave the day with new skills and your own homemade drop spindle and yarn.

Tickets £30 including lunch, and all materials.

This is a women-only event; if you don’t identify as a woman and would like to come on a course like this please get in touch as we can add another event if there is enough interest.
